The Budget

Budget!! The dreaded word!! But absolutely necessary unless you have copious amount of cash at your disposal. Unfortunately for the majority of us it is not possible to spend an unmentionable amount on our big day. Therefore sit down with your other half and discuss the tedious matter of money and how you can effectively use the amount you have set aside to create your dream wedding. Having an unlimited source of money does mean that you do not have to worry about the costs of your vision. However, this does not mean that a limited budget should not be able to provide you with the idea you have in mind. Elegance and beauty can also be produced on a more modest scale, but a big wedding can also be funded on a small budget!

As is the norm after you have decided on your wedding budget, bring in the family (his and hers) and discuss how much the brides family are paying and how much the grooms are paying. Usually both parties decide to split the cost of the wedding down the middle. Ultimately it is down to both the families and how they figure out this cost and what they are comfortable with in their situation. The issue of finance will crop up time and time again throughout the planning of your wedding, but as long as you have some ground rules in order and both parties are constantly up-to-date and informed of the issues, changes, overall progress of the matter everything should run in accordance to your plans. Maintain a constant open line of communication! Rest assured that once this stage has been dealt with you can start the fun part of your wedding preparations!
